Job Summary
The Design Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager. The position requires technical competence in machinery design, competence in manufacturing techniques, decision-making and leadership abilities, as well as the ability to manage time and schedules for the completion of engineering projects.
The Design Engineer must communicate with Management, Purchasing, and Production Departments on a daily basis, and must be able to make sound engineering decisions in a timely manner, and with little supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs necessary functions to design and develop new or existing refrigeration units and generator sets.
Completes work from input requirements or instructions to design new components or redesign. existing components to improve our products.
Determines and establishes specifications through engineering calculations and layouts.
Oversees and assists with the assembly of refrigeration prototypes.
Communicates with vendors to obtain information and application assistance. Is responsible for assuring that there is no “gap” between Engineering and Production departments, i.e. is responsible for meeting design criteria and timelines for completion of prototype jobs and other production and/or design jobs assigned to.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain friendly, cooperative relations with customers, vendors, company personnel, and management.
Follow all Company personnel policies and procedures.
Demonstrate the ability to tactfully handle difficult situations anticipate problems and make recommendations.
Organize personal schedule to maximize productivity and time management.
Perform other tasks or assignments as delegated by the Engineering Manager.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
Experience Required
Minimum 3 years plus as a Bachelor’s degree Preferred
Refrigeration design
Diesel Generator design
Electrical controls design
