Position Overview:

Quality Control Technicians are responsible for the inspection and testing of products and/or processes to ensure food safety and quality guidelines are met. Quality Control Technicians will work with a variety of inspection and test equipment along with various methods, processes, and products to ensure that procedures and work instructions are being followed and documented to maintain product quality and record traceability.

Working Conditions:

Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, and/or noise.
Daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical equipment, forklifts and electrical hazards.
Requires the ability to stand; walking around lab and plant; lifting and carrying boxes up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling and twisting.
Must be able to work flexible schedule to include days, afternoons, night and weekend work, including the possibility of overtime.
You will be working in a fast-paced environment with distracting conditions

Responsibilities, Skills and Experience:

Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database
Good written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Keen attention to detail
Track equipment and supply inventory
Experience with lab equipment such as salt analyzer, pH meter, consistometer, and water activity meter
Responsible for collecting samples, testing, verifying and monitoring finished product, raw materials and packaging materials
Prepare, complete and turn in forms and reports for lab tests
Responsible for collecting and sending microbiological and chemical samples for external testing.
Assist in identifying and investigating abnormal test results, conducting root cause analysis.
Assist the front-line supervisory staff in ensuring adherence to GMP and HACCP program compliance.
Monitor the use of equipment to ensure it follows food safety and quality standards
Discard products that do not meet food safety and quality standards
Attend departmental meetings
Complete routine and refresher training

Qualifications:

Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
A minimum of 2 years of experience in quality within food manufacturing

Other Duties:

Follow food safety and quality protocols.
Follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), housekeeping and safe work practices.
Other duties as assigned.
