Brief Description

The CNC machine operator is responsible for using design programs and software that is used in conjunction with the machines to create an automated process for manufacturing products. The CNC Operator will calculate the amount of material to be fed into the machine, and make adjustments to the operating speed based on vibrations and sounds that may indicate a malfunction. Upon completion the operator will inspect the fabricated part to make sure it matches specifications. The operator is responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment, changing parts when appropriate and the overall running of the machine.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Precision drilling tapping
• Using and maintaining all factory machinery
• Cutting and shaping materials including plastic, aluminium and steel
• Maintaining the whole surrounding working area and making sure it is kept neat, organised and clean
• Keeping the sacrificial sheet in order
• Making sure you have the correct tools for the correct job and replacing them accordingly
• Maintaining 100% accuracy and specifically all dibond panels to have no sharp or burred angles
• Maintaining all material racking
• Providing a weekly report on material levels
• Demonstrate and display leadership
• Operate the forklift
• Measure custom elements that need to be made with the CNC
• When CNC is not busy, attend to other warehouse duties such as cleaning and organising
• Go on-site where needed
• Develop innovative work practices and better ways of doing processes
• Understanding and interpreting blue prints
• Cutting components into precision parts
• Programming for new orders
• Changing the tooling of the machine
• Maintaining a clean working area free from excess materials and cut offs
• Maintaining the material stock levels and managing the re-order process
• Properly and safely loads and unloads raw materials
• Abide by all OH&S and WH&S rules and regulations
• Use gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
• Understand, interpret and edit G-code programming
• Recognise, deploy and properly use inserts, fixtures and tooling
• Understand and have ability to perform tool wear offsets
• Perform daily cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery
• Complies with all company policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
• Liaising with suppliers and materials companies
• Ability to maneuver sheets
• Recognise when machine is not at peak performance and how to increase output and how to fix errors
• Monitoring the condition of CNC and drill bits and replace them when become worn out
• Preferably with background in Exhibition/Film Industry
