KEY FUNCTIONS :
Container Shipping: ZIM handles IMPORT and EXPORT SHIPPING through the PORTS OF LOS ANGELES AND LONG BEACH, two of the busiest ports in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
Oversee daily shipping activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Develop and implement shipping processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Team Leadership:
Manage, train, and mentor shipping staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations of team members.
Vendor Relations:
Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with shipping carriers and logistics partners.
Monitor vendor performance and address any issues or discrepancies.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage the shipping budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Analyze shipping costs and recommend improvements.
Inventory Management:
Collaborate with inventory and warehousing teams to ensure accurate stock levels and efficient order fulfillment.
Monitor shipping schedules and track shipments to ensure timely delivery.
Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare regular reports on shipping metrics, costs, and performance.
Utilize data to identify trends and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in shipping software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CLTD).
Experience with international shipping regulations and practices.
Working Conditions:
Office and warehouse environment.
May require occasional overtime or weekend work during peak shipping seasons.
